Important Dates (Aug-Sept 2015)

Hi New Parents,

I wanted to touch basis with you on some important dates and new information. Again, if you have any questions- please feel free to call or email either one of us. I’ve also attached the school calendar in PDF form.

August 17th- Uniform Sale. Bancroft will be back from noon to 5pm. They will not be back till October. So if your child needs to try something on- Monday is the day. Or order online anytime: https://bancroft-uniforms.com school code:  teresaofavilacarsoncity

August 20th- PreSchool, Pre-K, Kindergarten, and New Parents Meeting.  6pm in the multipurpose room. Adults only. Childcare will be provided if you need it. It is imperative that you can join us to learn some school information and ask questions directly to Ms. Burger, Miss Cindi (the pre-school director), Christina Lawson (the financial officer) and other staff.

August 24th- First Day of School. You may use the drop off or feel free to park (on 5th street) and stay during morning announcements and prayer. Some teachers even let parents sneak in for a quick picture of their student at their desk. But please remember, the teachers need the kids to settle in so keep it brief.

August 26th- Back to School Night. Parents only. Childcare will be provided if you need it. The meeting will start in the multipurpose room at 6pm. Then we will break and go to your child’s classroom to meet and hear from your child’s teacher. If you have multiple children (like I do) there will be double sessions.

September 3rd- First All-School Mass. Students must be dropped off at the church no later than 8:20 in Mass Uniforms. If you need to drop your child off early, there is supervision starting at 7:30am but please do not bring your child(ren) any earlier. Parents are always welcome to stay for Mass.

ALSO Evening Ice Cream Social. The Ice Cream Social is for the whole family to have ice cream and be together at the school. 6-6:30pm

September 4th- Grandparents Day. This is so fun for the Grandparents if they are local or just in town. For Grandparents only. Allow them to experience what your child does at school. I’m sure they will tell you all about it. From 9-Noon. This is also a half day- dismissal at 12:10.

September 19th- Fall up, Get Down. More details to follow. 4pm at Fuji Park. This is our first fundraiser of the season to help our parish/school. It’s a community event- a fun family BBQ, with kids area and games. Plan to volunteer!!

September 20th- Fun Run. More information to follow. 5K and 1 Mile Kids run.

Other things to mark on your calendar:

Every third Thursday is Dad’s BBQ. If you haven’t heard about these- they are awesome for Dad’s and your students. Dad’s (or Grandpa’s) …  can come and eat lunch (Burgers- paid for by you ahead of time) with their favorite kiddos. My husband can’t ever make these but sometimes when my Dad is in town he surprises the kids. Don’t have a man in your life- don’t worry- the other Dad’s and Grandfathers are so sweet and all sit together. No one is left out even if they don’t buy a burger.

If you plan on volunteering with the children you must attend the required "Protecting God’s Children" class given by the church. More information will be shared at the meeting on the New Parent meeting (Aug. 20th).

New information:
·      It has just been decided that Kindergarteners can wear PE uniforms on their PE Day. At this point it is not mandatory just suggested. If you didn’t purchase them, don’t worry! The rule will go in effect officially in January when it will then be mandatory for Kinders to wear a PE UNIFORM on PE DAY.
o   PE UNIFORM: Logo PE shirt, Logo PE mesh shorts, Logo sweatshirt, and Logo sweatpants

·      Girls top-ties or criss-cross ties (I think Bancroft calls them a “Middy”) have been ordered and will be part of the Mass Uniform for girls K-3rd grade. They are not mandatory yet. Just suggested. In January they will be required for Mass for grades K-3.

Enjoy your last 12 days of Summer!
